You have decided that you need a web site. What next? There are some decisions you need to make, and this Web Site Primer can help you make them. It's not everything you need to know, but we cover a lot of ground in a very little space!
How do I get my site on the Web? You have two choices in this. First, you can invest from $5,000-15,000 in equipment, infrastructure, and high speed data lines, and consulting. Other advantages to renting space is you are also renting expertise on how to run a web site, and you don't have to continually upgrade your hardware, it is built into the contract. If you choose to invest in your own equipment (be sure to call us for the finest web site servers at the best cost), you must hire a web master--someone who can run the server, monitor it to make sure it is running morning, noon, and night, who can help you upload your information to it, and can help you download your orders, information requests, etc. If you choose to rent space to a web server, such as Computer Masters, these "web hosting" chores are done for you.
